Expertise and Experience

Dr. Almonte is a gifted surgeon who brings a unique style and artistry that comes from years of practice and studying masters in plastic surgery. His practice philosophy is centered around excellence in patient care and diligence in patient safety. He is one of the only surgeons in Sacramento that has dedicated 100% of his practice to cosmetic surgery of the face. He believes that this focused concentration leads to superior knowledge and expertise in facial rejuvenation. He is also one of the very few surgeons who has mastered the art of performing facial cosmetic surgery completely under local anesthesia. This is known as Level 1 anesthesia, a technique that significantly reduces the risks of undergoing cosmetic surgery. Using this approach, he has safely performed over 5,000 facial operations, which include facelifts, brow lifts, eyelid surgery, neck lifts, liposuction, fat grafting, and laser resurfacing. He is also an expert in the fine art of facial sculpting using injectables such as Botox and fillers. While centered in the Greater Sacramento area, Dr. Almonte has patients from all over the United States that seek his expertise and care.

Dr. Almonte is a true leader and has been a strong advocate for educating the next generation of osteopathic physicians. As chief resident during his residencies in general and plastic surgery, he led entire surgical teams and played a significant role in training junior residents and medical students. Now in practice he serves on the Student Clubs/New Physicians committee of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California organization, and serves as a mentor for pre-medical college students who find him via the Mentoring Program on the American Osteopathic Association website. He has lectured at the Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine campus in Vallejo, CA on “Becoming a Surgeon”, and continues to have students rotate through his private practice.

Dr. Almonte takes great pride in his ability to connect with patients, establish rapport, and understand their needs. He walks them step by step through their procedures. From the initial consultation to the unveiling of the final result, patients feel a sense of security in his hands. It is his belief that gaining a patient’s trust is a physician’s greatest responsibility. Through hard work, dedication, extensive training, and attention to detail, he has made it his mission to maintain that trust.

  • Choosing a Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon

Choosing a Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon

Most Plastic Surgeons, after medical school, undergo a five year residency in General Surgery and then enter a highly competitive two or three year Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery residency. This is over seven years of demanding surgical training which is vital to becoming a qualified Plastic Surgeon. After medical school, Dr. Almonte completed an Osteopathic Internship of one year, an intense General Surgery residency of five years, followed by a one-year fellowship in Hand Surgery, concluding with a two-year residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. In all he completed nine years of highly specialized training. Upon completion of the plastic surgery training, Dr. Almonte completed extensive written, oral, and clinical certification exams and became Board Certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, which is governed by the American Osteopathic Association.  You can confirm Dr. Almonte's Board Certification by clicking here.

  • What is a D.O.?

    What is a D.O.?

Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, or D.O.s, are uniquely trained physicians because during medical school they are taught not only the basic sciences, they are also taught additional theory on holistic medicine, which is the recognition that the human body's structure and function are intricately related. The Osteopathic philosophy treats patients as whole individuals, not just isolated diagnoses. All systems in the body, from head to toe, are involved in the progression of disease, presentation of diagnosis, and resolution and healing. Understanding these fascinating relationships and how they can be applied to medical care is one of the features that separate D.O.s from M.D.s.

It is around this unique philosophy and training that Dr. Almonte bases his practice of medicine. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, he is one of the few D.O. surgeons in the country who specializes in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. And presently, as a sub-specialist in Facial Cosmetic Surgery, he continues to apply the basic tenets of Osteopathic medicine with each new patient, treating each patient as a whole person, taking into account their emotional well-being, their work and family structure, as well as their physical and surgical diagnoses. This is what makes Dr. Almonte unique as a doctor. This is what makes him uniquely qualified to be your surgeon.
