Liposuction of the neck is a routine component of facelift surgery. This is done through a small incision under the chin, and is performed together with a facelift to contour and shape the neck. However, for those patients who don’t need a full facelift, or those who aren’t ready to take the next step to a facelift, liposuction alone is an alternative that can still help in rendering a more youthful neck. The most important aspect of this procedure is determining if your skin has enough tone to tighten on its own after liposuction. Without adequate tone, you may need additional skin tightening known as cervicoplasty.
During your consultation, Dr. Almonte will evaluate your neck fullness and neck skin to determine if this alternative will work for you. If you are a candidate, the procedure takes about an hour and is done under local anesthesia. You will be provided a neck garment which you will need to wear for about a week while your neck is healing. You may experience mild to moderate bruising. Risks include, but are not limited to, bleeding, infection, scarring, fluid collection, pain, and the need for additional surgery.
The first step is a consultation with Dr. Almonte.
